Mobility scooter insurance is not a legal requirement in the UK. However, given the value of most scooters and the risk of accidents in public places, taking out insurance is strongly advisable and is highly recommended by the Department for Transport. Public liability cover, in particular, can protect you financially if you accidentally injure someone or damage property while using your scooter.

On new machines our Mechanical / Electrical breakdown cover starts once the manufacturer’s warranty expires.
On non-new or second-hand machines, the cover is effective 45 days after the inception date of the policy.

We would recommend this for your personal peace of mind. Otherwise – what will you do if your vehicle breaks down while you are out and about? Could you get yourself and your vehicle home?

Cover for use abroad varies by policy. Please check your policy documentation or call us on 01582 840067 and a member of our team will confirm exactly what your policy covers when travelling outside the UK.
